CORE PASSAGE: Luke 2:15
The shepherds were an unlikely choice for God to first announce the birth of His Son. They were staying in the fields, guarding their flocks of sheep against thieves and wild animals. These shepherds outside Bethlehem may have been the ones who supplied the lambs for the Temple sacrifices that were performed for the forgiveness of sins. The angel invited the shepherds to meet Jesus, the Lamb of God who would take away the sins of the whole world forever (John 1:36).
LIFE LESSONS:
• Don’t let your emotions (such as fear) prevent you from hearing God’s message.
• Take action when you hear from God.
• Praise God.
• Tell others about Jesus.
